SQL Server Reporting Services. Best advised to integrate with other technologies?

I want to implement SQL Server Reporting Services as our standard reporting platform in our company. We tested Crystal Reports, but alas, it seems to be suffering from problems.

SQL Server Reporting Services seems to be a great product, but I have a problem or two.

I have some existing web applications in ColdFusion, and the backend in MySQL. If I go forward with SQL Server Reporting Services, how do I set up my environment? Is a JDBC or ODBC connector the only way to talk to this?

How does it integrate for the user? Do I need to re-authenticate a user to view reports? Do I need to set a link in ColdFusion to communicate with Reporting Services? Is there any way to make it seamless for the user?

Do I have to port the entire backend to SQL Server in order to fully utilize the SQL Server platform? Should I convert existing applications to ASP.NET and make the entire SQL Server / ASP.NET platform?

Not so bad that existing applications / MySQL do not have a size too large for the port. So I guess I'm just looking for some recommendation to find out if it’s good to use the Reporting Services component, or if I’m much better off consolidating everything in a Microsoft solution.
