PDF rendering on Blackberry?

We use Blackberries to display reports in PDF format. The following is the details of the problem:

  • PDF reports are created using JasperReports.
  • The format of the report can be changed.
  • Various report formats are available (according to the JasperReports feature set).
  • PDF reports are also located on the website, so maintaining a single source is ideal.
  • Page setup in Landscape.

Here are the problems we encountered:

  • Users cannot see the full line of text on Blackberry.
  • The size of the PDF and user interface makes reading difficult at best.
  • The menu option for converting PDF to text loses too much formatting to be useful.
  • The text is blurry (and too small).

Here are the solutions we thought about:

  • Create a second report (not perfect) in text or HTML format.
  • Simplify the format of the original report (in fact, this is not an option, given the amount of data).

What other options exist for creating a report on Blackberry, taking into account the limitations of JaserReports, so the report:

  • Legible?
  • Formatted for readability?
  • Displayed fast?

In fact, we would like to make sure that there are no simple solutions that we have missed for displaying clear PDF files on Blackberry.

If your blackberry is hosted on a BES server, can't you display reports as HTML on your corporate intranet? - Then you can send a link to Blackberry and just view the report.
