Is it safe to share a working copy of Subversion between the OS?

In the past, I heard that it is not safe to share a working copy of Subversion between the OS.

eg:.

  • copy the working copy from the Windows computer to the Linux machine and use the Linux SVN assembly on it.
  • On a Windows-based computer, start / process a working copy of SVN using Windows binaries and CygWin SVN binaries. (For example, I could use this solution ).

But I have not finally heard if this could lead to data corruption .svn. It is true that problems with EOL can be a problem if svn: eol-style is set to native .

What is the current status of this problem? Has this changed in later versions of SVN? Is it safe under certain precautions (for example, not checking / updating files with svn: eol-style = native on both platforms)?
