Yeoman Error: "Errno :: EACCES on line [" 897 "] of C: Permission denied"

Question

I updated my hardware yesterday and the latest version of Win 8.1. This mistake has been killing me ever since. I already lost full time trying to figure out what was going on. I have never encountered this on my Mac or on my old Win 7 machine.

Setting up a new project using yo webapp using Bootstrap and Modernizr works great. The server will start and I will be able to see my updates in download mode. But creating a new project with Compass and SASS enabled would prevent me from starting the local server and throwing this error:

I upgraded Compass and SASS to the latest version, reinstalled Yeoman and Ruby, and tried a bunch of other small settings. Nothing succeeded.

Any ideas what else I could try?

I found a solution for this problem. I think this may help with other similar problems with the grunt server running. Here is what it is for me:

Delete SASS

 gem uninstall sass 

Remove COMPASS

 gem uninstall compass 

Install version --pre COMPASS

 gem install compass --pre 

Install version --pre SASS

 gem install sass --pre 

For some reason, for me, only a working task worked in that order. Hope this helps.

The problem is resolved in SASS 3.2.19. Try the gem update compass
