TortoiseSVN - missing files in the client

I simply deleted two files in the client, and when I tried to update these two files were missing, but they were on the server.

I tried "clean up" and then "upgrade", which didn't work. But when I checked the new version elsewhere, the files were there.

In what situation is this scenario happening? Initially, I have “added” files to the server, but it turned out that the server already has these files.

PS I am using TortoiseSVN 1.5.6.

The problem disappeared when I deleted the entire auxiliary folder and made another “update” in the parent folder. what caused this?

Thanks,

I can admit that this problem still exists in TortoiseSVN 1.9.2, Build 28806 - 64 Bit, running on Windows 7.

Even after deleting large parts of the directory tree and performing the update, the missing file will not be restored afterwards. "svn revert", "svn cleanup", etc. also do not work. But I can restore the file from the command line using "svn update dir / missing_file.txt". The simple "svn update dir" did not work.
