Can you get financial compensation from Open Source

I contributed a lot to this open source project, which aims to help open source .NET users by acting like ruby โ€‹โ€‹gems or, more importantly, a gentto clone clone for .NET. There is a real need for this in .NET because the update path for .NET oss is a painful journey fraught with danger. So morally this is a very worthy reason.

The project is not yet a beta version, and I have no guarantee that it will work. I spend a lot of time on this. My friend openly stated how much she hates this project :-).

This is not beta yet, and I have no guarantee that this project will fill the void that is so necessary in this space.

If it works and becomes popular, is there anyway the money received during these costs on time, or am I just becoming completely cynical looking at him that way?

The greatest reward is more indirect. I believe that I received a job offer based on my publicly available code. This may prove to be more valuable than any real $$$ s.

The short answer is no. Rather, expect nothing.

It would be easier to generate traffic for your site and get something from advertising.
