Free development certificates for Symbian?

I would like to do Symbian programming with features that require the application to be signed with more than a standard self-signed certificate. I don’t want to pay mony for the certificate, since I don’t know if I can get an application for the sale of the application. Is there a way to provide features such as reading and writing device data to my application for use only on my phone?

Besides Open Signed Online, which is pretty hopeless when you want to debug a device, the only options at the moment are to search for someone with a publisher ID to create a developer certificate for your device through Open Signed Offline or wait for Symbian to come up with another way to get the certificate the developer. They are already planning on making publisher IDs cheaper and more accessible to people (you currently need to be a registered company), as well as wider availability for developer certificates.

If you don’t have a publisher ID, Open Signed Online is your only option .
