How to keep virtual machine snapshot tree up to date using Windows Update?

To test our product installer, I maintain a snapshot tree of a virtual machine with previous versions installed. It is a tedious task to do a Windows update, re-take a snapshot, delete the parent snapshot on each virtual machine.

Is there an automatic solution to maintain the relevance of the VM group? I use VirtualBox, but have access to VMware Workstation and switch if maintenance improves.
