How to find a mentor / code browser for a freelancer?

About 6 months ago, I switched to a full freelance job . Before that I worked in a corporate environment with highly professional masters :)

I strive to improve my skills in object-oriented design and software architecture.

I read a lot of books about OOD , TDD ., Templates (implementation, design, architecture). I like to explore interesting open source projects with beautiful designs.

The only problem I am facing is that I do not have enough reviews about my code.

I recently started participating in a small open source project PEAR , my patches were accepted, but I don’t think this is a very high-quality / useful feedback.

I don't like http://refactormycode.com/ because it can only be useful for implementation templates or small refactoring, which is not something. I basically need it.

My ideas:

  • choose a very difficult task in some open source project, so your patches will not be so simple.
  • Take my laptop and contact the familiar developers that I appreciate in this desired area to find out what they are about my code.

What do you think about this?

What should I do to solve this problem?

Pay another freelancer / consultant better than you to look at your code. You cannot expect people to give away their valuable time for free. Time is money, after.
