Map controls for sites with https

The team I'm working with is currently in a bad situation. They spent a lot of time integrating with Google Maps on their site, but they did not find that in order to run google maps on the https site you have to license a control (and it’s not cheap), and the same thing happens for a bing card.

So my question is: do you know about any cheaper / free map elements like google or bing cards?

Why can't they put some of Google maps on an unprotected page or frame? The google license says that you must have it on a public site in order to use the free version of the license, so even on an http site you still have to pay for the data.

All other display tools depend on expensive map source data, so you won’t find them. An exception is OpenStreetMap , which uses map data provided by the community.

For Danish users, I found the following VisKort component on SoftwareBørsen. It looks like it's based on OpenStreetMap, but I'm not sure.
