CSS Reset Wizard - Disadvantages?

I'm not too sure that this is called the "Reset Wizard", but you will understand what I mean.

I used

*{
      padding: 0;
      margin: 0;
    }

Without real problems that I noticed, but I heard people say that its bad practice to use something like that. So, ive looked at resetting the stylesheet and found this that seems good. But I'm not sure whether to use this if there is no problem using * {foo: bar;}

I heard that some people say that in some browsers this will ruin the form input style. I used this until I came across meyer reset, which just seemed like a safer, more proven approach.

I switched to just a few drops to handle negative margins in extreme cases, otherwise most modern browsers seem pretty consistent, a completely different ecosystem than a few years ago.
