Where can I find a list of countries and states for mysql

I am a php developer, I was looking for a list of countries and states of the world in mysql data format. Can you help me where I can find and download it.

It is not in SQL format, but check out the list of ISO country codes .

Interestingly, you can get them as databases (ISO claims that they are databases, but they look like spreadsheets for me!), But not for free.

EDIT: Now that the first link requires payment, I would probably check the current ISO-3166 Wikipedia page .

Geonames.org(http://www.geonames.org/) , , -, sql . .

You can get this information from here , the data is a free download. I used this data and just created the scripts to get them in the right format, and then injected it into the mysql database. There is an excellent blog post here that discusses the use of this data in Symfony (php framework)
