How to temporarily disable automatically generated Visual Studio events?

Everything,

I finished the GUI design phase ... Now I started adding meaningful names to all the controls in my application. Visual Studio makes me nuts automatically generate events every time I click on a control to change its name (normal, so this happens when I messed up and double-clicked ... but still annoying).

Is there a way to temporarily disable this feature? I still want this because it is a great short cut when I code.

Thanks!
