Has anyone ever read the Java Language Specification (JLS)?

I recently had a question about how to intern String and String - a pretty simple question that I got a quick answer to. But here I got a detailed answer to the same question on page 29 of the JLS 3 rd release . I am very curious that the questions we asked were answered in JLS, but its such a boring 600-page page (version 4 th is even bigger). How you guys how many of you have compiled JLS recently for a leisurely read?

I referenced it a couple of times, but for easy reading, I like VM spec more .

I sometimes read things from here and there when there is something specific that I need to find out (for example, details of how the Java memory model is ). I have never read the full JLS. I believe that only language developers will need to read all of this.
