Should I go 3D for my game? If so, how far away are any good lessons?

I have been working on a java simulation game for some time (remaking a theme hospital in my own way). So far I have done everything in 2d using squares and circles, etc. I was looking for some tutorials on how to make 3d in java, find coke and code, however I'm not sure if this is what I need to use. My idea was to either have a simple 3d, as in 3d. or real 3d, which would be much more difficult and more difficult. I really wanted to hear people's general thoughts on how to go 3d. Here is a video of my progress from a few months ago ( http://screenjel.ly/bdO7Rj8DVl8 ). 2d graphics are not quite impressive. I want to make even more progress, but I do not know if I will continue to develop in 2d if I want to eventually switch to 3d.

Also, I don't know how complicated 3d will be. Ideally, I want 3D to spin completely. I know this is quite ambitious, but I would agree to random people and objects, and not to circles and squares. Does anyone know of some good 3d in java tutorials that includes a twist?

Any other thoughts or comments about this?

thanks
