Polygon intersection fails, collision "size" is too large

OK, so I'm trying to make a simple asteroid clown. Everything works fine except for collision detection.

I have two different versions, the first uses java.awt.geom.Area:

// polygon is a java.awt.Polygon and p is the other one
final Area intersect = new Area();
intersect.add(new Area(polygon));
intersect.intersect(new Area(p.polygon));
return !intersect.isEmpty();

It works like a charm ... if you are not interested in about 40% of the processor for only 120 asteroids :(

So, I searched the network for the famous theorem on the dividing axis, since I am not taaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa, and transformed it according to my Java needs:

It works ... curious. In fact, it seems that the “collision body” of asteroids is too large when using this code, it is 1.2 times the size of the asteroid. And I do not know why.
