(rails) validating regex url

I use the following to check if the URL is formatted correctly:

validates_format_of :website, :with => URI::regexp(%w(http https))

however, it does not work when the URL does not start with http://or https://. Is there a similar way to check URLs with URI::regexp(or URI) and include valid URLs that don't start with http://? (For example, www.google.comvalid as http://www.google.com)
