Professional Tips and Tricks

I'm trying to polish my web programming skills with the unobtrusive but extremely useful Polish that I find on many sites. Stackoverflow.com, for one. When I ask a question, the page sends a question, and my browser reloads itself, displaying my question. My back button works as it should, without asking me (from the user's point of view) the scary question "To display this page, we need to send a request to the server. Do you want to do this?"

In addition, after submitting a question, if I click update, it also does not call another form.

Is there a site that lists such tricks? I assume that I will have to rethink the standard display / send / display cycle that I use most often, but I really want to learn some new methods.

Does anyone have pointers for me?

EDIT: I decided that I would say it here, and not in separate comments. Firebug is a really fantastic tool and I use it all the time. I am using jQuery more and more these days, but I would not call myself proficient in this. I would like to use Firebug to track what happens when you ask questions, comment, etc., but I don’t want to abuse the site for training purposes.;)
