I use facebox ( https://github.com/defunkt/facebox ) to call web pages in a modal window.
Are there any RECOMMENDED alternatives for this?
I prefer solutions released using jQuery.

I found fancybox to become a good alternative.
I find jQuery tools in particular overlay very customizable.
There are many plugins, but it depends on your needs.
