Naming N: N Connection Tables

We have 2 types of objects and we want to connect them N: N. For example, articles and authors.

  • What would you call a relationship table?
  • What would you put first in the name of the table, articles or authors? (articles2authors or books2authors)

Someone, probably, would recognize this question as stupid. I don’t think so, because I'm looking for the perfect naming convention.

Thanks.

Choose any

  • Connection table
  • Cross reference table
  • Bridge table
  • Join table
  • Map table
  • Reference table

but please do not use "2" to replace "with", which is 1970.
