The safest way to transfer a credit card number through a multi-stage form?

Question

In step 3, I have a form that accepts a credit card, step 4 reprints the information, including the last 4 digits of the credit card, and in step 5 I need to know the complete C # for processing and sending it through my https connection with a third-party provider - store it through hidden entrances or $_SESSIONso that I can access it between the 3rd and 5th steps?
