What is the exact definition of a Runtime host?

A common language runtime has been developed to support many different types of applications: from web server applications to applications with a traditional rich Windows user interface. For each type of application, you need to start the host to run. The runtime host loads the runtime into the process, creates the application domains in the process, and loads the user code into the application domains.
