Index PDF files using Symfony using Lucene

Question

I am a Symfony developer and my web server is Linux. I already use the sfLucene plugin.

What is the easiest way to index PDF files to search on a PHP Linux server?

• XPDF installed like this
• Apache Tika via SOLR sfLucene plugin branch
• Third option?

Based on the Zend background, I usually recommend using Zend_Search_Lucene. The XPDF example is really simple and looks simple. XPDF is licensed as the GPL - if it suits your needs, go to # 1!
