ASIHTTP Request Timeout

I use the ASIHTTPRequest library to request some data from a server in an iPhone application. But I can’t understand how to create a timeout so that if the server goes down or the iPhone does not have an Internet connection, the application will not work.

Bad handler:

- (void)requestFailed:(ASIHTTPRequest *)request {

    if ([error isKindOfClass:[ASIRequestTimedOutError class]]) {
        // Actions specific to timeout
    }
}

Success Handler:

- (void)requestFinished:(ASIHTTPRequest *)request
{
   // Use when fetching text data
   NSString *responseString = [request responseString];

   // Use when fetching binary data
   NSData *responseData = [request responseData];

   // Do something with the response.
