Can I build an application using Javascript on Linux platforms?

Javascript is widely used to create applications on the Internet. What about desktop etc? Gnome Shell is made from it. I'm just wondering if there is a way or something that allows developers to access the Gnome / Clutter graphics libraries?

The three best options that I know of are Rhino (using Swing or other Java graphics frameworks), Seed, and Gjs .

Seed Gjs - Gnome, GTK + Gnome JavaScript. Seed JavaScriptCore WebKit, Gjs Mozilla Spidermonkey. Gnome Shell Gjs.
