We have an application that automatically installs updates on our customers' computers (Windows OS / PC). It is lightweight (650K) and does a very specific task for our customers, helping us collect data for them as part of our overall service for our customers. He first checks our site to see if a newer version of the application exists and downloads the latest version. The problem we are facing more and more is doubly:
- Some antivirus programs consider this to be malware and block it.
- Some firewall software believes that it is a trojan and blocks it from trying to send back the data that was intended to be sent.
We can, one by one, help clients who are not very versed in understanding the problem and how to solve it, but it is very laborious. It appears again in each new version that we publish to automatically download and update (approximately once a quarter on average). Seeing that we have about 1,500 customers, it is very difficult to manage.
Please share with me any approach you have taken, or how you can solve this problem.
Read more: the app is VFP 8 exe. It has a shell application that starts first, sees if there is a new version, downloads the new version and then launches it.
