Is it wise to go to Windows Update to update your own applications?

Is it possible to associate a Windows update with a native application update?

I have heard of ClickOnce, however, from what I understand so far; the application developer is still responsible for managing updates.

I show a similar user experience to how an end user can update an application on a Linux distribution, for example. ubuntu update manager. Where is the centralization of applications and systems.

I understand that you can update, for example; office, SQL server, etc. Thus, you can make updates for non-core system applications. But of course, this is an application for Microsoft, is there a third-party way to do this?

Windows Update (and Office Update) is launched by Microsoft, and while third parties such as nVidia and Intel are allowed to use it to update drivers, it is not an open platform. There is no Windows equivalent for Ubuntu / Debian APT repositories or third-party repositories.
