Maximum builds for a .NET application?

Quite a few applications support plugins.

Are there any disadvantages in having a large number of plug-ins? Is there a sweet spot beyond which performance degradation is possible?

What is the largest number of assemblies you saw in the application?

I was working on a backend framework that had an assembly dependency tree of over 2500 endpoints. It was disgusting and took two hours.

So, while you can load tons and tons of them, ready for people to point at you and drop things.
