The difference between DB documents and Bigtable bits

Can someone give a comparison among themselves?

We are looking for a suitable mechanism for storing our weblog history data. We looked at the Bigtable newspaper and realized that it suits us well.

However, I also understand that a Document-Oriented-DB like MongoDB seems to provide a slightly more powerful schema, i.e. can also simulate our data.

I wonder how now ppl selects a scalable NoSQL database? I read enough articles such as "we looked at A, B and C, and we decided to use C". But I would like to see some control number. I want to say that if MongoDB, etc. Can provide the same level of performance as Bigtable clones, why do not web companies choose it (in preparation for solving a potentially more complex data problem)?

Thanks,

By the way, I read an article (which convinced me at the moment) that Kassandra is not suitable for M / R operation, any comments?
