Tools 4.1 do not respond to projects running with Xcode 4.1 until you press Cmd-Tab

If I open the Tools and select a standard application (for example, Mail or MS Word), it has no problems. If I am in Xcode and I go to Product> Profile (or press Cmd + I ), it launches Tools, allows me to select a template and load a standard screen. Then the down arrow starts tracing to the right, as it should, and the iOS simulator launches the program. However, nothing has been done in the Tools. It does not show any changes about anything that the application does. I can’t click anything in the Tools: there is no menu, I cannot stop recording, I cannot open tabs, etc.

I accidentally discovered that if I press Cmd + Tab , the tools will start to behave normally. It seems strange to me. Either this is a mistake, or the appearance in my knowledge of how to manage tools.

Strange bug fixed in Xcode 4.2! The problem was a hidden password dialog, so sometimes it works, and sometimes not. One possible solution was:

  • Run tools
  • Cmd tab for Xcode covering tools. Loop and hide messages until password is detected.
  • Close Xcode.

PS: I know that I’m late for an answer for several years, I just looked for answers to unanswered questions. Just check how the answer β†’ is good for both of us. )
