GWT RPC or query builder using Javascript Overlay?

GWT RPC is a mechanism provided by gwt for communication between a client and a server. There is also a query builder through which you can connect to the server.

What mechanism would you recommend for a gwt-based application, and please indicate the reasons for doing this.
