IPhone and iPad versions of the same application?

I have an iPhone app and want to create an iPad version of it. What is the best way to set up a project if you want to use the iPhone and iPad versions of the application?

I don’t see that I can use the same code base, since the iPad version will have functions in it that are not in the iPhone version. It seems that service will grow with two similar codebases for the same application.

Reorganize common parts and create a new goal. You are the only one who really knows the best way to do this.
