How to clear SWT ExpandBar background?

Question

The default ExpandBar background in SWT is the gradient of the color that the operating system uses.

However, when I change the ExpandBar background to SWT, the controls switch to the Windows Classic style.

Is there a way to set the ExpandBar background without returning to the Windows Classic look?

I do not think that this can be done without drawing over the controls.
