I am trying to learn this basic thing about processors that should be taught in every CS department of every university. But I can not find it on the network (Google does not help), and I can not find it in my class materials.
Do you know a good resource on how addressing modes work on a physical level? I am particularly interested in Intel processors.
Perhaps you should take a look at Tanenbaum's book, Modern Operating Systems.
If you're interested in x86 architecture, Intel's guide might help (but they go very deep)
