Best way to check batch email script

I have a php mail script sitting on a LAMP server. The script captures about 1000 email addresses and sends them each html email address.

I tested the script with about half a dozen of my own test email accounts and everything was fine. But I'm worried that something might go wrong when I really use this script for 1000 emails. Some things I would like to check out are

1) Confirm that all 1000 letters were sent and received

2) Check that emails do not fall into spam folders for people

3) Detection of any other common failures

Does anyone have any suggestions on how I can verify these cases? I would like to read about your experience with batch email scripting.

You can use some kind of dummy SMTP server. I prefer: Dumbster this small server, written in java, works like regular smtp, but saves emails in the file system.

I think you can’t verify that your mail is not marked as spam. The only solution is to provide a backlink that users must click on.

  • BCC , → , ,

  • Reply-to , . , , , , , .
