Create a Windows Installer (XP) on a Linux machine?

I need to create an installer for my software for Windows XP and newer. Is there any mechanism for this on a Linux machine? (I run ubuntu, but I think this is not a show stop).

NSIS (Nullsoft Scriptable Install System) is a free, open source installation system that allows you to create your own Windows installers.

It uses assembler files to define all aspects of the installation procedure and with the compiler that you create the resulting installation package. Here you can find sources here . Installer works on systems compatible with Windows and POSIX. There is also an Eclipse plugin .

Nullsoft installer is widely used for open source projects and even for commercial products.

UPDATE: . A new alpha release appeared on December 24, 2013, so by the end of 2013 this project is still active.

UPDATE 2: Starting in April 2016, a new version 2.51 was released along with a release candidate for NSIS 3.0.
