Is it possible to check if php can receive any ping / flag from the mail exchange server to say "yes, the message was sent to the sent destination"?
According to the PHP manual, returning mail () may mean boolean; "It is important to note that just because the mail has been accepted for delivery does NOT mean that the mail will actually reach the intended recipient."
Does this mean that PHP can return success, but in fact there may be a problem on the mail server that php would not know about it? and in this case not a single email was sent, and the user is not wiser?
