What should a PHP / MySQL web developer know about servers?

I develop websites using PHP and MySQL. What resources are recommended by an experienced web developer who will cover server related information related to the developer’s work.

If this helps, I work specifically with the Apache server (through my hosting company).

I found resources for the Building Dynamic Websites course through an extension of Harvard University to be useful for learning / updating fundamental concepts and also as a source for pointing me in the right direction when I need more specific information related to various technologies.

There are useful examples, cheat codes, links to documentation, and, of course, audio / video lectures that you can watch and / or listen to.
