Recommendations for the set of microcontrollers 8051?

I am the first computer science student to start microcontroller development. I would like to use 8051 as it is spread like dirt, and is often used in the real world.

During my junior or senior years, I will use the built-in design class based on the PIC microcontroller, so I would rather not do the PIC now; otherwise, I will be bored during this course.

Most commercial kits that I see are for microprocessors in the AVR or PIC series. I'm just looking for something with decent development tools, documentation, and enough additions to get my beginner busy in the summer.

Any recommendations for the 8051 family kit? Thank!

Check out Silicon Labs MCUniversity ToolStick Development Kit:

Disclaimer: I work at Silicon Labs.

The kit and documentation are for people who are new to the 8051 and microcontrollers in general.

I asked almost the same question on the microcontroller forum. Original post here . Recommendation for F340DK from silabs.com. I looked at the silubs because I heard that they have good sets. It works from $ 70 to $ 100, depending on where you get it.
