How do you manage the battery of your development devices when they are always connected?

I know this question is not related to programming, so for this I created a wiki community. Developers are the best guys to answer the question.

I appeal to those who develop battery-powered devices such as phones, gadgets, etc. Perhaps you are constantly developing for them, and therefore they are always connected and fully charged. We are developing mainly for smartphones, and we have devices that have always been 90% charged in the last month or so.

If the battery is always charging, it worsens its life cycle, so what steps do you take to ensure a decent battery discharge to increase battery life.

  • Keep it off. For a laptop, you can use a laptop battery just fine. For a mobile device such as a phone, this is a little more annoying because you are trying to download it regularly enough (but not constantly).
  • Use a spare. Have a "dev" battery that you use with a constant connection. When you finish development and are ready to show your new fart widget to all your friends, just replace the battery.
