The right way to send HTML emails containing pictures: use a server or embedded images?

Question

I want to....

create an html-email containing several images (company title, etc.).
Images should be displayed as email content, not as attachments.

So, how is the best way to do this?


I know two possibilities :

• embedded images are sent as an attachment ( <IMG src="cid:321353119@02062010-119E">)
• Images are hosted on the server ( <img src="http://myserver.com/mypicture.gif">)
