Is there a task manager for SQL Server 2008 onwards? A way to see what the SQL server is doing, kill runaway queries, etc.
select * from sys.sysprocesses
Should show running processes. Killing tasks is
KILL <task>
Team
Note that this view ( master.dbo.sysprocesses) is a backward compatible view, so it may not be here in future releases of SQL
master.dbo.sysprocesses

Go to Server Manager-> Diagnostics-> Performance. Double-click "Performance", and a sub-screen appears with a blue hyperlink that reads "Open Resource Monitor". This has the same functionality as the task manager.
