How many associations for functionality in the real world?

The queries I create often have 7-8 connections to retrieve data. Are these numerous connections normal in a real database application or is my database design poor? I'm curious, because if in every query the database should work a lot, will it not die if several thousand clients connect?

In my opinion, this is inevitable in some cases, the key must have the correct indexes for the queries you make. With a deep graph of objects in ORM, or perhaps with subclasses merged, it would be easy to move on to the 7-8 connections you are talking about. I really want to hear everyone talking about it :)
