Recently, I took responsibility for managing the assembly and release of our company. We ship our products both as a web service and as a licensed product that customers can install on their internal servers.
My job is to make sure that QA has the builds needed for testing, which can come from the main development branch or specialized branches, depending on their current focus, and can be for one of two different products. It also means that we release our products within the company for dog breeding, which means that we deploy to an internal server. Finally, I reduced the official builds for our customers by creating new installer versions for those who install internally and pushing updates to the website for our hosted customers.
So far I have chosen "Pragmatic Programmers" "Ship!" and Release It! both of which seem useful to you. What other books should I pick up and read? Are there any communities or well-known bloggers whom I should follow this deal specifically with the tasks of creating, deploying and delivering web services on our own servers and on internal client servers?
