Why can't the iPad hide the status bar from a splash?

Welcome all!

I wonder what can be solved. I'm working on a universal application, on the iPod Touch and iPhone the status bar is hiding from the start of the splash animation. However, on the iPad, it is hidden only until the splash image disappears.

This is what I have in AppDelegate:

- (void)applicationDidFinishLaunching:(UIApplication *)application {
    [[UIApplication sharedApplication] setStatusBarHidden:YES animated:NO];
    [window addSubview:viewController.view];
    [window makeKeyAndVisible];
    [[UIDevice currentDevice] setOrientation:UIInterfaceOrientationLandscapeRight];
}

In my info.plist ... "The status bar is initially hidden" is checked. And my code does not set the visibility of the status bar at any time.

Any idea what could be causing this?

Thank.
