What is the difference between SQL Server Compact Edition and SQL Server Express Edition?

Can someone explain what is the main difference between SQL Server Compact Edition and SQL Server Express Edition?

For what purpose should I use this or that?

If you don't want to read, SQL Server Compact is designed for mobile / embedded applications, and the Express version is just a free SQL Server standard.

Edit It is very important to note that @Rup just stated that Compact is an in-memory database.
