Recently, I have been reading a book called 802.11 Wireless Networks The Definitive Guide (Second Edition). I can not understand the WEP authentication algorithm with the shared key.
The book, chapter 8.3, the section "Legacy of Shared Key Authentication", states:
The third frame is the response of the mobile station to the call. To prove that this is allowed on the network, the mobile station creates a control frame with three information elements: authentication algorithm identifier, serial number 3, and call text. Before transmitting the frame, the mobile station processes the frame using WEP (BUT HOW ???) . The header identifying the frame as an authentication frame is retained, but the information elements are hidden by WEP.
So, I would like to ask for a good community here.
Here is my example WEP authentication session packet captured using Tamosoft Commview for wifi 6.3.

I know from a book how RC4 works, and I wrote a python program to test how WEP encrypts an 802.11 packet.
The remaining problem is that I just can’t understand how the WEP authentication algorithm works (how No. 59 is calculated.
