Any resources for color blind web designers?

My work 9-5 is like a software engineer, so for me it's usually not a problem, but I know HTML and CSS and I feel that if necessary I can come up with a decent layout ...

The only problem is choosing a color scheme for sites. Usually I just find a site that has colors that I think look beautiful and most likely not weird (i.e. George W. Bush's website It probably has carnations and purples). As soon as I found a site with nice colors, I can use it as a base. It would be nice to find a place that has a “safe” color tray that you need, or give you a list of “safe” colors that complement each other.

I'm not quite sure what “safe” colors are. I believe that in my situation I try to stay away from pink and purple, which I often confuse with more conservative colors (gray and blue, respectively). In addition to this, I would like to know that colors are aesthetically pleasing.

Does anyone know anything where I can find hexadecimal codes for “safe” colors and any colors that will complement my base color?

When I say hexadecimal codes for safe colors, I am not looking for the answer: "Gray hexadecimal code - # 808080"

In my experience there is a wide range of gray, and it would be nice to get this hexagon ...

Thanks for any help!
