Benefits of using WCF on top of .Net Remoting, web services, etc.
Web services can only be called by HTTP (traditional web service with .asmx). Although the WCF service or WCF component can be called by any protocol (for example, http, tcp, etc.) and by any kind of transport.
Second web services are not flexible. However, WCF services are flexible. If you create a new version of the service, you just need to open a new end. Thus, the services are flexible and represent a very practical approach, considering current business trends.
