I am looking for some tips on distance development / programming and any tips people are currently doing with this. I am specifically looking for what, in your opinion, is the most effective practice or set of practices.
I think the following is important:
- View code remotely with a tool like Crucible *
- A good connection for accessing SVN, an error tracking tool (e.g. Jira) and a wiki (e.g. Confluence) for sharing progress / design, etc.
- When calling every morning for "daily standing"
- Keep a daily diary of affairs / things.
- Using IM client for quick messaging
Does anyone have recommendations on other practices / changes that you would recommend?
